Boeing will fix the QC issues.

First step is to stop hiring people from the BMW factory.

If it’s Boeing, it’s not going.

Ah yes, build it in the state that still has highways paved by Irish Travelers. I predict MAXimum q uality.

Another west coast state loses much needed tax revenue.

T hat is likely more true that people realize - the BMW carbon fiber manufacturing operation is out of Moses Lake, WA where Boeing does a bunch of their training /flight testing, (and parking of grounded 737max...) You know there is head hunting.

So all that’s left at Everett is 767/777 production? That seems like an awful lot of excess capacity given the relatively low number of 767 orders . Might they close Renton, or is there something else planned for that extra space?

Hopefully the 777x orders take off.

I saw 787 and immediately thought: “they are making more Mazda 787Bs”!!! I’ve been fixated on rotary engines too much lately... On another note, all the airplane related content on Oppo is super cool, how people know so much about obscure planes and things is beyond me.

The future sure is looking concerning for current airplane production.

This is another example of how the McDonnell Douglas management culture took over Boeing. Moving production further from engineering isn’t a good idea in my opinion. It makes short-term economic sense, but poses potential risks. I’m not sure what lesson Boeing learned from the 737 MAX issues, but it wasn’t “listen more to your engineers”.

Boeing may be planning for decreased sales in the future. Many companies are learning how to have somewhat effective meetings online. I used to travel regularly for business meetings, and I don’t expect that to return for a few years after COVID.

There is also the risk of global warming concerns increasing to the point where more governments start imposing higher taxes on aviation fuel, further hampering the air travel industry, and reducing aircraft sales further.

Boeing is just trying to get every last penny it can by reducing production costs. However, I still think it’s a bad idea in the long run. It won’t take many quality issues to eliminate any short-term gains the company makes.

It will end up costing them unless they improve the shop culture. That plant has the highest delivered product quality rejections. Getting it done quick and dirty is no bueno for airplanes.
